OUGD404: Studio Brief 01 - How Do You Read? - Initial Layout Ideas

Initially, the content was going to be the 'science behind colour.' However, I decided to expand on that in a way that looks at the definitions of CMYK and RGB with different colour wheels. It is supposed to be very visual and colourful, aimed at young people such as children or students. The text will be large and simple. It will include the very basic information so that they give an effective of notes and learning only that piece of information.

This shows generic book binding as in how you would image a shelf book to be. One that you flick through and read. It would include very thorough information and the grinding would be the same through like a small magazine.  The first diagram shows squared binding which has pages glued together to the spine. The second diagram shows a ring bound / spiral notebook form. The pieces could be laminated which makes it look more important and professional. It could be an instructional manual on colour theory.

Concertina Book Fold - would be good for a children's type book but it would not be practical to have the information on the back because you would have to flip the entire sheet over and around to see the text. It's not effective as a flash card type layout so I experimented with the idea of what if they were just flash cards.

This idea is creating flashcards. Instead of the information being a paragraph above or below the image. The front page will have the image and the back page with have the written information. For example in school when children used to have the flash cards and you would hold up the correct answer. These would be a flashcard with the correct answer on the back so you could learn the information in small groups or by yourself.

This will either be individual cards held together with a piece of material such as a staple or a split pin because you could remove it then use them as a set of individual cards.
The other interpretation of the layout could be that they are an individual pack of flash cards then held together using a sleeve, envelop or I could construct a box to put them in like a pack of playing cards.
